Eliza Lucas Pinckney

Eliza helped me understand South Carolina history by knowing that she had something to do with indigo. In class we had talked about indigo and how it was very important and rice had also rice had been a big cash crop after indigo. Eventhougth everyone was discouraging Eliza from growing it (even her mother) she kept on doing it and we have her to thank for that today. In the book it even says that the state of  South Carolina owes a deby of gratitude to her nad it also says that indigo was of great economic importance to the economy of South Carolina
